It’s all about the bag

LOCALS are being urged to assist in the “It’s In The Bag” campaign, an annual event by Share the Dignity where every day Australians are encouraged to donate a bag to a woman or girl homeless or in need for Christmas.

The bags are filled with essential items and are distributed to 3,000 Australian charities, including organisations on the Tablelands.

Bags can be second hand, in good condition and dropped off at collection bins in Bunnings Atherton until 30 November.

Further information and the list of Items to be donated in each bag can be found on the website: www.sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag

This year, the collection falls at the beginning of the United Nations “Orange the World 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, aimed at raising awareness, and preventing domestic violence.

Unfortunately many recipients of the bags are fleeing domestic violence.
