Irrigators urged to go for discount

ELIGIBLE irrigators within the Mareeba-Dimbulah water supply scheme are being encouraged to take advantage of the 15% water charge discount currently being offered through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA).

The discount provides valuable financial assistance to irrigators facing continued pressure from rising input costs, freight, electricity, labour and other operating expenses.

The Tinaroo Water Committee believes it is important that eligible irrigators make use of the assistance available to them and is encouraging growers to lodge their applications as soon as possible.

Tinaroo Water Committee chair Joe Moro said the discount would provide welcome relief for irrigators across the region.

“Our irrigators are continuing to face significant cost pressures, and every saving makes a difference,” he said.

“We encourage all eligible irrigators to look into the QRIDA assistance and apply for the 15% discount.”

The committee also recognised the importance of ensuring that government assistance reached the irrigators who needed it and that the application process was as straightforward as possible.

“We know that growers are busy running their farms, but we would encourage them not to overlook this opportunity,” Mr Moro said.

The Tinaroo Water Committee represents irrigators across the Mareeba-Dimbulah Water Supply Scheme and continues to advocate for practical measures that support the long-term viability and sustainability of irrigation in the region.

Eligible irrigators should check the QRIDA requirements, including eligibility criteria and application deadlines, and submit their application directly to QRIDA.
