Four line up for poll
FOUR candidates will contest Tablelands Regional Council’s Division 1 by-election on 31 October.
The election is by postal vote only which must be sent by mail by 6pm on the day of the poll.
Candidates in ballot paper order are: Bernie Wilce, Mark Norvall, Kate Eden and Greg English.
Electoral Commissioner Pat Vidgen said he was pleased to see candidates willing to represent their community ahead of the by-election.
“With the order of the ballot paper finalised, we will begin printing and mailing your ballot packs,” he said.
“All people enrolled in Tablelands Regional Council Division 1 will receive their pack in the post. There will be no polling places to vote in person.
“When you receive your postal ballot pack, it’s very important to follow the instructions on your ballot paper to ensure your vote counts. This includes signing the declaration envelope and making sure the envelope is also signed by a witness.
“For your vote to count, we must receive your completed ballot paper by 5pm on Tuesday 10 November,” he said.
Mr Vidgen reminded the 3,300 enrolled voters in Tablelands Division 1 that voting is compulsory and failure to vote can attract a $172 fine.
